School offices implement "summer" schedule beginning June 22
As part of continuing budget reduction efforts, all Roanoke County Public schools and school administration offices will be operating on a four-day work week (Monday – Thursday) during the summer with employees working ten-hour days. This will include all schools, Central Office and all departments.
This schedule begins the week of June 22. Roanoke County Public Schools will return to a regular five-day week on August 10.
“All employees will be working the same four days of the week in order for us to shut down all buildings three days per week [Fri. – Sun.], saving about $45,000 on utility costs,” said Assistant Superintendent for Administration Allen Journell.
