School board statement re: proposed employee bonuses
The School Board received a letter from Roanoke County Board of Supervisor's Chairman Mike Altizer today concerning the School Board's request to use money from the school health reserve to provide a bonus to contracted employees. The letter indicated that "the consensus of the Board of Supervisors is that we cannot take action on this request at this time". Therefore, the Board of Supervisors has pulled the item off of their December 1 meeting agenda.
The School Board is continuing to discuss the matter with the Board of Supervisors at the current time; however, if those discussions are not successful, we will be unable to proceed with providing a bonus. The School Board appreciates all of the hard work of its employees and will continue to look for ways to support everyone in the future.
Sincerely,
Members of the Roanoke County School Board
