RCPS nutrition staff wins several awards at SNA-VA conference
The School Nutrition Association of Virginia (SNA-VA) held their 62nd annual state Conference March 12 at the Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center with more than 625 attendees from every region of the state.
Roanoke County Chapter 6B again took home the Thelma Flannigan Presidents Award of Excellence for the outstanding chapter in Virginia. This was due to the hard work of Chapter President, Tammy Graham and her Executive Board. This is the 5th time in the past 7 years that the Roanoke County Chapter 6B has won this award.
In addition, a new award, the Friends of the SNA, went to Mike Brancati, Assistant Principal at Cave Spring Middle School.
Below are listed the awards that Roanoke County Public Schools nutrition staff received at the state conference:
- Physical Activity & Nutrition Award – Kim Stevens, HVHS Nutrition Manager
Awarded for her role in coaching/leading the Archery Team at HVHS - Louise Sublette Award of Excellence – Denise Farber, WECES Nutrition Manager
This is the highest award for an individual member in the State Association.
Ms. Farber worked with teachers and found ways to incorporate SOL learning in the cafeteria. - Administrator of Year – Rhonda Huffman, Nutrition Coordinator
Lifetime Achievement Award - Martha Ferrell, retired Nutrition Support Specialist - Thelma Flannigan Presidents Award of Excellence - Tammy Graham, CSMS Nutrition Manager
- Friends of SNA – Mike Brancati, CSMS Assistant Principal
Recognized for his support of the nutrition program from the local level.
